'Follow Me Through the Red Ash' is the debut album of saxophonist and composer, Cheryl Durongpisitkul. Written throughout 2016 - 2017, the composition explores techniques drawn from musical elements within Igor Stravinsky's ballet, 'Petrushka'. The composition is a through-composed piece written alongside a narrative; the themes in the piece are often directly connected to the characters in the story. The album merges modern jazz with prog rock, 20th century classical and explores improvisation through many different contexts. The piece moves between shimmering landscapes and muddy terrains, weaving the main themes throughout the densely textured composition.
